Barkley. Neither Gnarls nor Charles.

Barkley L. Hendricks has been laying down the paints of reality since before I was dropped out my mama. Each piece depicts a soul in its true state. Vibrant and radiant, his subjects shine from their canvases and take you to the place from whence they lived and breathed in their moment of capture. His latest showing is at the Studio Museum in Harlem, NYC right up until the days of spring. Appropriately titled "Birth of the Cool," the collection drips with a majestic beauty and a love of human beings and life.http://www.studiomuseum.org/barkley-l-hendricks-birth-of-the-cool/

Danny's Perfect Plate Dinner Special #6

The next time you are visiting Vancouver why not stop by Danny's for a tasty plate of pure fantasy. His array of ethnic cuisine is unmatched in any Michelin rated restaurant on any continent. This one is the #6. It is a delectable medley of...some kind of pastry crusted stuff with some other things next to it. And don't forget the small round thing with a toothpick through it, also very good. Uh, I think I have to call Danny to find out what all the thingys are again. Seriously though, it is really good. I mean it. Let's just call it #6 because there are 6 different food materials on the plate and call it a day. Tai Tu!Tuesday, November 11, 2008
Sorry Folks, There's Something Wrong With My Guitar
There was a time in the city
Where it was...CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH!
Sorry, folks, I'll have to start this again.
There was a time in the city
Where it was...CRUNCH! CRUNCH! CRUNCH!
Something's wrong here...Oh.
I'll be back after I remove this...

Mama T, You're Diamond Shreddies

Some may say it's just cereal
But you and I know better
You cannot find them just any-where
This is my birthday love letter
I don't eat them yet you see
Most-ly I take the breast
But one day you will give me some
And get-me-off-your-chest

British Columbian Calypso

It was very rainy during the McManus family travels to Vancouver this past week so we had tons of indoor time. The Squirt decided to show his appreciation for our oxygen deprived adventures by working on his raspberry and finding a covert way to give someone "the finger." Genius.
For the bonus, saying "Calypso" is the new fun secret way of announcing to your loved ones that you have passed gas and they should leave the immediate area or risk a most certain death. We of the McManus clan find it much more amusing than screeching that you farted and far more polite than silently allowing others to suffer greatly. Try it and enjoy.

Get Yourself To The Barber

Shawn Barber is an intense painter and tattoo artist. His work can be seen at several galleries throughout the year as well as in various advertising campaigns. His most recent exhibition, "Tattooed Portraits," was mind-blowing. Check out some samples of his work here and more at his website.

This is a painting not a photo. Damn right, look at it again.
Jim Herbert and His Really Large Paintings

Over the last few years I have done work as an correspondent, cameraman, moderator and host for Indigo TV in New York, currently on an extended hiatus. One of the coolest guys on the planet, Jim Herbert, had a party/art show/rock concert (Smite, Americans) in Bushwick, Brooklyn. He is a rare talent who was responsible for the creation of several of R.E.M.'s seminal videos. Remember the "End of the World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" video where the camera runs all over the place with a boy and his dog in a decrepit house? Jim. I held the camera, Trish rocked the mic, everyone had a great time, and Jim told us about his latest work. The image quality of this piece is poor in the new video format that the Indigo site is using, sorry about it in advance.
